WeatherMichigan.com Graphical Site Modes

So that WeatherMichigan can provide you with access flexibility during your visits, we have instituted three graphical modes:

BASIC GRAPHICS MODE
Site default mode with the fastest access time. Typically only two external weather images loaded per page. The same comprehensive weather information links as the other two modes.

LIMITED GRAPHICS MODE
Formerly our site default "Minimal Graphics Mode," with the next fastest access time. Typically six to eight weather images loaded per page. Slower but has the advantage of displaying several images at once for comparison, storm tracking, etc.

FULL GRAPHICS MODE
Same graphical-intense coverage as before, with multiple weather images loaded for review. Slowest page access time of all modes. Recommend this mode for DSL or cable users. Requires patience for 56K modem users.

You can easily change graphical modes at any time by clicking on the desired link at the bottom left side of each page header. The bottom right side of the page header displays the mode you are currently in.

Weather Center Products

CURRENT RADAR The latest local, regional, and national NEXRAD radar graphics including both static and animated displays. Also included is the NOAA/NWS national radar coded message map and links to individual NEXRAD sites.

CURRENT SATELLITE The current satellite page offers state, regional, and national satellite images, including both static and animated displays. Extensive links to NOAA GOES satellite products.

CURRENT & FORECAST CONDITIONS Latest weather maps for the U.S. and Michigan including current U.S. and Midwest conditions, dew points, temps, winds, and wind chills. Latest U.S. forecast maps include midday, early evening, and tomorrow morning, as well as precipitation, winds, and thunderstorm forecasts. The five day forecast and winter weather graphics are also available here.

CURRENT MICHIGAN REGIONAL CONDITIONS & FORECASTS The latest weather images for Michigan regions and the North Central U.S., including current conditions and forecast, links to Michigan NWS text data bulletins, and a multitude of radar sources. These pages are geared to your region of Michigan.

MICHIGAN WEATHER TEXT DATA Links to Michigan weather text products, primarily from the National Weather Service. Available items include the latest forecast and conditions, special weather statements, marine forecast and conditions, etc.

AGRICULTURAL WEATHER Complete weather coverage for Michigan farmers! Our agricultural offerings include field station observations, growing degree day accumulations (state and local), weekly crop report, temp and precip statistics, and agricultural weather images. Additional weather information includes a variety of state, regional, and national radars, satellite images, current and forecast surface products, and links to related sites.

AVIATION WEATHER Comprehensive coverage of Michigan aviation weather, including area AWOS/ASOS station observations, METAR/TAFs, AIRMETs, PIREPs, SIGMETs, and other aviation-specific weather information. A variety of local, regional, and national radars, satellite images, and current upper air and surface products are available as well. Surface data includes temps, moisture, pressure and winds. Upper air data includes temps & humidity, jet stream analysis, and a variety of severe weather indices. Also included are links to related data.

MARINE WEATHER The latest marine-related weather images for Michigan and the Great Lakes area. Includes current conditions and forecasts, links to Michigan NWS text data bulletins, and additional marine information sources.

WINTER WEATHER All the information you need to stay on top of winter weather in Michigan! Get the latest images along with current winter weather advisories, travel conditions, wind chills, snowfall forecasts, snowfall and snow depth reports, and the regional skier's outlook.

WEATHER EXTRA This is our miscellaneous page where we touch on all things weather-related. We'll also use this page to answer any questions you may have concerning weather and if we can't provide the info, we know who can.

SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK Keep up-to-date with the latest severe weather information! Includes the current regional and national severe weather advisories, today and tomorrow's severe weather outlooks (or "footprints"), and national severe weather probabilities.

MICHIGAN SEVERE THREAT ASSESSMENT Assess the situation yourself with this one-stop overview of the current severe weather threat. Our comprehensive coverage includes a variety of local, regional, and national radars, satellite images, and current upper air and surface products. Surface data includes temps, moisture, pressure and winds. Upper air data includes temps & humidity, jet stream analysis, and a variety of severe weather indices. Also included is the current watches & warnings and the Day One & Day Two severe weather outlooks. Links to related data is also available.

GRAND RAPIDS AREA SEVERE THREAT ASSESSMENT The Grand Rapids Area version of the Michigan Threat Assessment. Narrowed scope for West Michigan, with several images related to this area only. Official assessment page for the West Michigan SKYWARN Team.

RUC ANALYSIS & FORECAST The Rapid Update Cycle (RUC) is an operational atmospheric prediction system from the NOAA Forecast Systems Laboratory. Our RUC Analysis & Forecast page provides coverage of the Great Lakes area, with additional surface and upper air analysis graphics not available on either of the threat assessment pages.

SKYWARN PROGRAM INFORMATION Informational page describing the NWS SKYWARN program and what YOU can do to participate. Interested Amateur Radio Operators in the West Michigan area can go to www.k8sn.org/~grr_warn to find out how to participate in your county.
